Street Dance Teacher
Hi I’m Rebecca Spencer and I am one of the dance teachers at Shooting Stars. I have had the privilege of working with the team here for several years now and I love seeing the groups grow from strength to strength.
I currently teach Shooting Stars adults which is a pleasure as I get to inspire the group to continue with their dreams and ambitions in dance and inspire them to never give up. I also teach Shooting Stars 10+ these children put a smile on my face every week, they constantly work hard and continue to improve weekly.
I have many years experience within the dance industry – my very first dance class was at the age of 4. Growing up I learnt a wide variety of styles including ballet, tap, modern and street dance. I then went to further my training by attending Warrington Collegiate where I studied dance at a national diploma level, from which I graduated with a distinction.
After leaving college I started to discover my own style and what I enjoyed the most which has lead me to where I am now – street dancing. I still attend classes to better myself as a dancer and as a teacher, and I am constantly refreshing my knowledge within the dance sector. I have also competed in many dance competitions at a high and challenging standard which helps me to stay focused and on top of my dance skills.
From the experience I have gained I have been able to open my own dance school which has been challenging but rewarding and I have everyone who helped me in my career to thank as I have gained the knowledge I need to know from them.
Overall I enjoy my job and wouldn’t change it for the world.
When Ruby asked me at the age of 3 if she could go to ballet, I enrolled her at Shooting Stars with Sam. Since then she has loved every minute from the teachers, to the shows and still loves her ballet at the age of 12. She is now training for Pointe and can’t wait to get her shoes. Thanks to Becky and the team for nurturing her throughout the years.
My daughter started at Shooting Stars in summer 2018 and absolutely loves it. She’s now also moved into the Pre-Elites and has recently had her first competition and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would highly recommend.
Becky and the shooting stars team have been fantastic! My daughter started dancing aged 4 with Becky and has progressed to be in the pre elite group now aged 8. She absolutely loves it and her confidence and ability has just grown and grown. Now she is competing in competitions and loves doing the regular shooting stars shows. I couldn’t recommend shooting stars enough.
Isla has been with Becky since she was two and a half for over eight years now! She loves her dance lessons and taking part in annual shows and competitions. Becky and her team of teachers always have a smile on their faces for the children and it's clear to see they love what they do.
Over the past 3 years both of my daughters have danced ballet, tap and street dance with SSDA. They love it and really enjoy themselves whilst learning great dance skills. The classes are fun, exciting and great exercise, with teachers who are skilled, very encouraging, and friendly building confidence and self esteem. SSDA shows are amazing and the girls love being a part of them. As parents we are very proud. I would highly recommend SSDA to any parent looking for dance classes for their children.
Matthew joined Shooting Stars September 2012 age 6, joining the Woolston group. Such a friendly & enjoyable place to go and great classes as the groups are split in age groups so the little ones are not trying to keep up with the older ones. He loves every bit of it and loves learning new moves & showing them off. He enjoys the performances that are put on to the public throughout the year and the annual summer & Christmas shows.
